We spotted this advert at a railway station the other day. South Western Railways were promoting a special discount to give passengers a reduced entry rate to visit Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth.
The only problem is that the ‘unforgettable’ experience they were intending to promote had only one ‘t’ in it.
It’s an easy mistake to make. But someone should have noticed the missing letter on this very important advert on a very large poster. They need to improve their proof-reading.
What does this kind of error say about a business? To me it raises the question: if they haven’t taken care of all the important details in this promotional offer, what other details haven’t they taken care about?
The effectiveness, clarity and accuracy of every message a business sends out – whether large advert or a small email – gives the customer an impression of that organisation’s standards and quality. It’s all part of reinforcing your brand.
